Autistic children medical center

Autism (ASD) is a collection of mental disorders and a permanent Functional malfunction. Autism disease shows itself at early years of the patient as an intense social disorder which roots in the growth of the brain.

At the moment there is no certain cure for autism because of its wide range (mid to severe), but lots of autistic children have the ability to get the abundant recovery with early creative programmed education for each person at a suitable environment.

Unfortunately, there isn’t any medical center or special places due to the needs of autistic children in Iran.

In this research, the definition of autism disorder range has been presented by the latest version of DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV) therefore this project has been designed for this spectrum of patients and of course, it has the ability to serve all cortex of society in case of need.

This center has all facility of an equipped hospital plus a place for the accommodation of autism children and their families.

DESIGN:

In designing the following project, I was inspired by Iranian traditional houses and their central yard. Because of squared shape and positive and negative spaces, intimacy in the atmosphere is created which makes it the best environment for patients who suffer from a lack of intimacy.

Light is the next important subject which was designed by placing the building in the appropriate location in order to use the natural light from all four main directions.

The artificial lighting is provided by a controlled intensity and warm colors for inside and with the lowest intensity for outside because of patient’s sensibility to the direct irradiance.

To provide a comfortable zone, dominant colors with low sharpness is used inside the building which is in harmony with Iranian traditional design.

 The project contains sports center, cafeteria and restaurant, showroom, parking, apartments and all the medical and welfare equipment.

Also on the second floor, private rooms are designed for patients who are recovering.

For the convenience, the building is designed with the lowest height. I also designed a roof garden for the first floor so it can be used as a more private and controlled green space for patients.

Also, I have made a special attention to the area of the green space to split it from the outside world.
